What Product WhereAluminium Preferable to all steel products for corrosion resistance. However, Aluminium is a soft material and is not suitable for security type fencing or any heights over 1500mm without a centre rail to stop splaying of vertical members. Product Finish: Excellent. 3 Stage Zinc & Clear Process One of the more recent advancements of powdercoating technology. Dulux, Interpon and other powdercoat manufactures are producing zinc rich undercoats, primarily for the fencing industry. These coatings give similar corrosion resistance results (when applied to pre galvanised steel) as Hot Dip Galvanised coatings, and the finish is far better. However, they are not suitable for intricate design where difficult to get powdercoat coverage. Put together with a zinc basecoat, then the colour of your choice and a clear top coat, this 3 stage process ensures that no aggressive airborne particles can permeate the coatings and create corrosion of the base metal. Product Finish: Very Good Pre Galvanised Tubular Steel This product is suitable for the majority of fencing and gate products in the metropolitan area and in relatively dry environments. It is alloy welded at a low temperature to avoid burning off the pre galvanised coating. This product is not recommended for areas with high mineral or salt content bore water, or within 2 kilometers of the ocean. Product Finish: Very Good Hot Dip Galvanised Steel Often specified for high risk environments close to the ocean. Although the product has excellent durability, powdercoat does not bond to a Hot Dip Galvanised coating as well as Aluminium or Pre Galvanised Steel. This can often cause peeling after eighteen months of service. Product Finish: Poor |
